l Spend time at the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park in Albuquerque. Participate in the educational programs, walk the guided trails, learn about the bosque and the river. l Arrange for a speaker, slide show, or video presentation at your school, church, neighborhood association, or community group. l Water is a precious resource in the desert. Think about the ways in which you use water. Be more aware of the ways in which you waste water. Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and other communities have water conservation programs underway. Contact them for information about rebate programs and other water conservation resouces. (Click here for Resources) l Both urban landscape and rural agriculture are heavy water users with great conservation potential. The NRCS, your local Soil and Water Conservation District, and Xeriscape 0rganizations can provide you with water conservation assistance and resources. |

l Practice water conservation. (See Above) l Help restore the Bosque. A variety of community-based restoration projects are now underway. Volunteer by contacting Rio Grande Restoration (505-266-3609), City of Albuquerque Open Space Division (505-452-5210), Socorro Save Our Bosque Task Force (505-835-0412), or Tree New Mexico (505-265-4554). Call the NM Interstate Stream Commission for the contact in your area (505)827-6167). l Let your voice be heard! Write letters to the editor expressing your concerns about the Rio Grande. Talk with friends and neighbors. Write, call, or email your local officials, you state representatives, the NM Congressional delegation |
