We advocate for the Rio Grande by representing the river's interests to federal and state agencies, the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD), the Closed Basin Project, the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC), the New Mexico State Legislature, the City of Albuquerque, and the Endangered Species Act (ESA) Work Group, and at both Middle Rio Grande and Jemez y Sangre Regional Water Planning meetings. |

We educate and activate communities along the river through the development of resources and activities that involve the public in river advocacy, restoration projects, and water conservation. We offer programs fro schools and community organizations. We sponsor river walks and river rides. We welcome the participation of volunteers as River Advocates. |
We collaborate with federal, state, and local entities, tribes, farmers, religious groups and community organizations, schools, neighborhood associations, and others, as well as individuals, in creating solutions for the river. We actively participate in a number of collaborative efforts, including the Middle Rio Grande Restoration Initiative, the Bosque Consortium, the ESA Work Group, the New Mexico Water Dialogue, and the Alliance for the Rio Grande Heritage. |
We initiate activities and processes whenever we identify a significant need, including individual and group dialogue, special events, legislative initiatives, specific actions, and river restoration projects. |

We re-create by engaging others in the development of a vision of a renewed life for the Great River through sustainable water management practices, and by involving the public in that visions and its implementation. |

About Our Work |

Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed it's the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead |
Water in the American West is blood. Rivers, streams, creeks, become arteries, veins, capillaries. Dam, dike, or drain any of them and somewhere, silences prevails. No water: no fish. No water: no plants No water: no life. Terry Tempest Williams, An Unspoken Hunger |
